Week one of the transfer

Dear fam,

Glad to hear about all of the adventures this week. You guys must be having a blast at home but so are we here in Mexcio.

So this week we had more or less half days of work whilst we got hna Hernandez back into shape. Literally. Why do i say that? because her left leg is literally much smaller than her right one. her right legs is all muscled up and the left one is all sad and jello like. Funny but also difficult to work with. However despite the madness, we were able to see a miracle this week.

Yesterday after church and lunch we went out to teach and find people. We received an impression to go and search for a less active family named fam Pompa. Turns out that they don`t live in the address that is in the church records but a guy named Carlos does. He came out and the first thing he asks is where our church building is located. Then he tells us that he`s studied with the Jehovah`s witnesses for years, then the Christians but hasn`t found what he`s looking for and asks why we are different. We testified of the restoration and a little bit about the plan of salvation and then we get to the point where he stops us and asks us what he is feeling. We then teach him that he is feeling the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost testified soo powerfully of our words that the three of us were tearing up and he accepted for us to come and teach him on Wednesday. It was literally a miracle because we have been looking for new investigators all this week and we finally have found someone who is prepared to receive the gospel.

Let`s just say that this experience is just one of the many amazing spiritual experiences that a mission has to offer. I am so blessed to be able to be an instrument in the hands of the Lord to find His sheep. I love this Gospel and know that what we teach is true. I know the Lord loves each and every one of His children and that we are His hands to help lift others and help them feel His love.

I hope you all have a great week!!!!
Love,

Recovery week

Dear fam,

Hey ya´ll. SO this week was recovery week. AKA, stay in the house and try not to go crazy... I get cabin fever really super fast, especially here in the mission field. Yep. its been interesting. So you ask, How on earth did we not burn down the house? Like this:
1. the first counselor bought us a gallon bucket of ice cream. Which, we have not yet finished.
2. We were allowed to watch a couple of movies, 17 miracles, ephriams rescue, home on the range, the other side of heaven and Faith in God.
3. We got crafty and made paper boxes and stars and whatnot.
4. I found a book of mormon in Italian and am reading it out loud
5. My companion has P90X Yoga so Im getting more fit.
6. We talked out all of our problems fears and likes.
7. Naps are a lifesaver.
8. We cooked!!! Super fun and I got to learn new mexican dishes to make when I get home.
And that is how we didn´t die of boredom. And we read scriptures of course, I learned a lot of cool stuff about the gospel . Especially about how literally everything we go through and is in the Gospel has a symbolic meaning. For example, birth. When we are born we receive a spirit, are born with water and with blood. We have to be spiritually born again by being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and we are sanctified through the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. How cool is that??? Pretty awesome if I do say so myself.
I hope you all have a great week!!!
Love you all!

PS. that is my almost burial shroud from too much sitting.

Baptism and Surgery!!!

Dear Family,

So this week has been a rollercoaster. Literally a rollercoaster.

Tuesday: we go the hospital because my companion couldn´t walk on sunday.
Wednesday: out of the mission we go to get her MRI done.
Thursday: back to the hospital to see what´s up. We learn that she´s gotta have knee surgery and Sunday night we´ll be staying in the hospital.
Friday: preparations for Luis´ baptism.
Saturday: Luis gets baptized!!!! It was soooo cool! The baptism was at 6pm and it was great. The best part is that the person who gave us the reference came to the baptism. And he´s a Seventy. SO how did they know each other? The Seventy came into town and needed and Uber taxi. So he orders one and like every good missionary or servant of the Lord, he talked to Luis about the church. from there we talked to him and he progressed until this day and was baptized. He was so happy and we were sooo Happy. it was beautiful.

Sunday: We went to church, watched Luis get confirmed and went off to the hospital at 6pm. We slept there, well kind of slept. You can´t sleep well in a hospital when you forget your ear plugs.... it was a struggle.
Monday: 9:30am my companion goes into surgery and I GOT TO GO WATCH!!!!! It was super cool!!!! I watch them play with her leg like a wet towel and the scalpels and all the cool instruments. It was way awesome. They cleaned out her knee in 30 mins and closed her up and that was it. Super fast, super easy, and so totally wicked. I´ve decided I like medicine :)   But the downside to it all is they made us stay until the next day before we could leave. yuck. SO two nights in the hospital couch wasn´t so fun. But is was all good.

Tuesday: we got out of the hospital and have to go back on Friday to see what else my companion can do, but until then we´re stuck in the house. Yikes. Don't worry. I wont go crazy.... hopefully.
So that´s the adventure of the week. Life´s good. The Gospel is still true.
I love you all!!! I hope you have a great week!!!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Dear Fam,

Happy 4th of July to all of you!!! Man, this is probably the one day of the year that I miss home. probably because out here I am not gonna eat bbq sauce, Cuz its extremely hard to find. Sad day. But! we did have a little get together with the sisters and President and Sister Mecham this afternoon! It was a blast. We had hamburgers and did a piƱata, no fireworks but that´s not a surprise. But all in all it´s been super fun!

This next week we´ll have a baptism. YAY!!! Luis is getting baptized and is super ready. He understands the Gospel is a way that just amazes me every single time we teach him. It´s been super fun and I have no doubt that he will stay active all of his life. He loves the gospel and loves the scriptures and is super ready to be baptized. And through all of this I´ve learned a great lesson, the people who are prepared ot accept the gospel in their lives, don´t have any problems with the commandments and willingly accept to keep them without any other doubts. Its so cool that people like them exist!!!

So, basically our lives as missionaries is a blast. Why? because we keep the commandments, follow the rules, and work hard. That is literally the key to missionary work. Well, and you need a sincere desire to serve the Lord too. With all of your heart might mind and strength, but it´s worth it. I don´t understand why young adults these days don´t understand these simple things. In fact, something sad is happening in the mission. This next transfer aka 2 weeks (what??? that flew by) we will be receiving 7 sisters and 2 elders. Yes, you read that right, only 2 elders..... How sad is that? That means there are more young women going out to the field than young men right now and we can´t do squat without the priesthood. So, I´m gonna personally ask each of you who read this to help some young men and young women get excited about a mission and go! Please? Thank you very much!!
I hope you all celebrate the American way and have an excellent week!
