The weather did What?

Now, this week was quite the adventure.
We had a miracle this week here in good ol´ Ciudad de Mexico (they changed the name, we aren´t in DF anymore.) What on earth happened? well, as I have been telling you all, it´s the rainy season here. It´s hot all day and at about 6 or 7 it rains. Well, we had a huge storm this tuesday and guess what. It hailed!!!!!!!!! How cool is that? And just like every other time something cool happens. I forgot my camera. But! The wonders of carrying a plastic bag with me where ever we go means I got to bring a bag of hail home. My companion was dumbfounded by the hail and I couldn´t have been happier. Miracles exist!!!

I built a snowman!! Well, hailman but still. It counts.

And there is my companion, flabbergasted by hail.

We also had intercambios this week. Which are our training sessions not the real transfers, that´s next week. And I had a blast with Hna Piña. She and I get along super well so that was a good time. It rained on us but I loved it.
I guess I remembered I have a camera this week because we took lots of pictures. It was a good time and I´ll let them speak for themselves.

I hope you all enjoy the pics and enjoy the end of the year and beginning of summer!
Love,

Birthday week again!

Dear Fam,

Man it has been hot this week and today feels like an oven. My neck has officially reached poly status in record breaking time. I didn´t think I´d get mexican so fast but here i am. All of the ward members tell me I´m burnt but i haven´t turned red so I´m thinking their definition of burned is different than mine. But whateves. It´s all good.

So recap of the week. We´ve had an interesting one. We went to the hospital because Hna Rossalino hasn´t felt good and found out that because she stresses out so much, her body has started to react weirdly. She got a blessing and has been fine thus far. We got to go and talk to President this week because she wasn´t feeling good and afterwards she felt better. And I got to talk to him too and it was great. We had a great chat about everything that´s been going on and it´s been good.

Thursday was Hna Rossalino´s birthday! Yay!!! We now have a buttload of cake in the house and it´s been an adventure trying to eat it all of it. We just finished last week with all the cake the members gave me so we´re a little caked out. We were having a good day but she got sick in the middle of it and we were sent home to rest. I learned this week that when I am stuck in a house, i get really antsy. I did my laundry and cleaned our table and did the dishes because I just cannot sit still for hours upon hours. I hope we don´t have to do that again this week. But if so I´ll be fine. The house is an endless mountain of projects.

This week I learned that as a representative of Jesus Christ I sometimes have to feel how He felt so that I can better understand Him. I felt really bad this week for everything that has been going on with Hermana´s health but everything will be just fine.

I know that our Savoir understands each of us and lifts us up when we need it most.
I hope you all have a good week!!!

Weather, Zone Conference and the Sacrament

So as for this week we have started the rainy season. And i happen to love it! It`s really hot, all day, like basically scorching and then at maybe 7 or earlier it begins to rain and rain and rain. I have come to learn that I love the rain. Walking around in it, getting a little bit wet makes me feel better. My companion gets grumpy gills when it rains but it puts my mood through the roof! I wish we had rainy season in Utah but we`re kind of a desert that struggles with having rain but that`s okay.

Next topic as written in the subject of the email is Zone Conference. We had Zone Conference this week on Friday and it was fabulous!!! I loved loved Loved it!!! We played a fun water balloon game and did some practices that I actually enjoyed and President Mecham taught us a lot of cool stuff about fasting and partaking of the Sacrament and it was great. Plus for me because sister Mecham asked me to translate for her and I did pretty well. Which is a huge blessing because as of a month ago I couldn`t do it. And we had baby chicken salad sandwiches as a snack and I was super happy because I`ve definitely missed eating those. It was an excellent experience and I can`t wait for the next one.

And the last topic, the Sacrament. So through the course of my mission I have been coming to appreciate more and more the Sacrament. So, something that I had never realized that I now realize is that the Sacrament is one of the most important saving ordinances that we have. It allows us to be made clean and pure every week if we partake of it worthily. I invite you to read the definitions of Sabbath Day and Sacrament from True to the Faith and think about what each of you can do to feel the Spirit more and partake more worthily of the Sacrament. I promise that if you repent daily and focus more during the ordinance of the Sacrament that you will feel the difference in your life like it did this week. Try it! Please just try it and feel the difference!

I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Overtime and Stake Conference

Dear Fam,

Hey you all! It was nice to see you, family, this past week. I hope you had an excellent Mother’s day and I hope the long haul for the end of the school year isn´t too rough at this point.

So these last two days have felt like we were working overtime and last night I was dead tired. There is a good reason why we have a Preparation day once every 7 days. It´s the little recharge we need to keep a move on and keep going in the work of the Lord. Because even when you see the missionaries and they look perfect and happy and energized, the work is tiring. But it is also work every drop of sweat, every tear, every blister, every angry catholic and every heartbreak when people choose not to listen or stop progressing. The reason we don´t look so tired and don´t give up is because the Lord tends to bless us with strength to carry on. Plus, as missionaries we have millions of faithful members praying for us. I personally, would like to thank each of you for your prayers and help, because I´ve needed it and will keep needing it.

So the event of this week is we had Stake conference. and it was AWESOME!!!! I had the opportunity to go to both of the sessions and it was great. The theme was "What more do I lack?" and man did I receive some great personal revelation. Sister Mecham and President Mecham gave some awesome talks and Presidente Trujillo gave a great one as well. The Spirit was super strong and the words were exactly what I needed to hear. I was one happy sister missionary. I got to understand a bit more about how I can improve myself and continue my eternal progression one step at a time.

I also got to teach in District meeting this week and we talked about the importance of the Holy Ghost. I received some great revelation that day as well because I was reminded that learning to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost is essential to our eternal progression. There´s a great quote by Joseph Smith that Preach My Gospel cites that says that Salvation is impossible without revelation. How true that is! If we can´t listen to the spirit, we can´t grow and progress. If we can’t grow and progress we cannot reach Salvation. So, Moral of the story is, learn how the Spirit talks to you, listen to him, and you can make it to eternal salvation. I testify that the Holy Ghost is crucial in our process of development and I know that if we listen to his promptings, we will be lead safely down the path that leads to Eternal Life.

I love you all! And hope you have a great week!

I'm old!!!

Dear Fam and everyone else,

Thank you Thank you Thank you for all of the happy birthday wishes and whatnot. I feel so blessed and loved to know that there are so many people who care about how i feel and are happy to show it. The emails and letters and packages were exactly what I needed to feel great. I´ve only got one birthday in the mission and you all have made it great!!!

This week I was especially blessed because my birthday wish came true. As you all know, I had not had the chance to go to the Mexico City temple my whole time being here in Mexico and all that I wanted for my birthday was the chances to go. Guess what? God answers our prayers!!!! This past Saturday one of the sister´s in the mission, Hna Piña, needed to go to the temple to see her brother (who heads out for the mission in Monterey Mexico on tuesday), go through for the very first time. Turns out that Friday night her companion wasn´t feeling too great so Hna Piña asked president what to do. Long story short, she set up intercambios with me and Hermana Rossalino and we, Hna Piña and I went to the temple. I got to go through in Spanish this time and was super happy because I understood all of it. Plus, I got to feel that special peace that comes through going to the temple which is something I have missed and Desperately needed. It was awesome!!! And a sure witness to all who will read this that the Lord answers our prayers. He loves each of us and is aware of our needs and desires.

Then, today we had a lunch at Hno Noe´s house and we had cake and had some fun! I got to do all of the chores today but that doesn´t matter because I am literally on top of the World today. I´m forever done with being a teenager and I am blessed to have people who care about me here in the mission and back in the United States.

My heart is soooooooo full!!! I am so glad to be a missionary and have the opportunity each day to testify of Christ and the love He has for each of us!
Check out the pics for more goodness of what went down this week.
I love you all!!!
